GM's self-driving car unit restarts testing on public roads
·1 min
Cruise, the autonomous driving technology subsidiary of General Motors, is set to resume testing its self-driving vehicles on public roads in Phoenix, Arizona. The company had paused its testing activities following a pedestrian injury incident in San Francisco last October. Cruise’s modified Chevrolet Bolt EVs will still primarily operate autonomously, but with a safety driver ready to take control if necessary. The vehicles have undergone software updates to improve their response to similar incidents in the future. Cruise previously faced criticism for its handling of the incident and has since made changes within the company.
